- Major holidays in Libya are Eid Al-Fitr and Eid AL-Adha. Eid Al-Fitr comes at the end of Ramadan, which is a full month of fasting. During Ramadan, Muslims don’t eat or drink during daylight hours. They do this in order to reflect on God will and for those who suffer from poverty. At the end of the Ramadan, Muslims celebrate Eid Al-Fitr for three days. Eid AL-Adha is when Prophet Abraham obeyed God to sacrifice his son.
- Islamic New Year, the Prophet Muhammad's birthday. Prophet Muhammad instructed all Muslims to fast on this day.

- This is an increase of 0.04 % (2 507 people) compared to population of 6 268 711 the year before. In 2015 the natural increase was positive, as the number of births exceeded the number of deaths by 102 807. Due to external migration, the population declined by 100 299.
